elegant cafeteria

i was up north this weekend for a women's retreat. although i've been there before and knew what it would be like, at times i found myself wishing it wasn't so "campy." the carpet is stained and mismatched, the bunks are rickety, the decor is all wood paneling and deer heads. it's actually very appropriate decor, since the visitors are mostly junior high and high school kids. fancy stuff just wouldn't be practical (or appreciated).

nonetheless, i couldn't help but sigh when i excavated this image this morning. wood paneling and rustic surroundings have never collided in such an elegant way.

the only problem with this setting is that wet hair and comfy hoodies wouldn't be as acceptable :) other than that, i'd love to eat omelettes and blueberry muffins at this table with a bunch of friends on a weekend away. oh, and don't forget the mimosas . . .

in table love,
she.
