magazine archive: Domino

i love perusing the web galleries of fashion & design magazines. there's no faster way to overwhelm myself visually than to browse the gorgeous photographs therein. of course Domino's online resources are no exception, and seeing as i'm someone who loves design but doesn't have the dollars to subscribe to publications like this, i really appreciate the fact that so much of the inspiration found on the paper pages is available online.

i found the photo below on my latest stroll down the pictorial aisle of cyberspace and thought i'd share. the simple, pretty feel of this small space appeals to me. you don't have to have a huge home or perfectly coordinated fabrics to make a place special, and yours.

the layout was part of a kitchen organizing series, and the suggestions here were to make use of open shelving and a pretty curtain to conceal storage in a studio apartment. i like the result (and the hint of cerulean scrollwork on that pillow!).

Sophie Munro for Domino
September 2005

click on her name to see more of Sophie Munro's work;
i found her "Yachts" gallery particularly breathtaking,
and not just because of the photography!
people actually spend millions of dollars on boats,
and then more millions to decorate those boats . . .

only one thing to say, "holy moly cow, those yachts are AMAZINGLY HUGE and well decorated."

i could live on a yacht. would i tire of the sea? i hardly think so. i'm an aquarius - i was born with water in my veins. okay, maybe not actually. but i'm pretty sure the ocean and me: we share a bond.
